Peter Pan

I am so pleased that the influential and oh so chic 60's Peter Pan collar has made a comeback this season and without question Topshop has translated this trend brilliantly....

More Missoni

For a current illustration project, I am to produce an illustrated look book based on a designers S/S011 collection. The fashion house I will be using is Missoni as I am drawn to the flamboyant patterns and vibrant colour pallette, which is consistant throughout the collection. Here are a few photographs which I may take inspiration from for my final outcome.

New things

I fell in love with this vintage style floral vanity case and at a reasonable price of £30, I had to invest!
Please excuse the poor quality phone snaps.....
Isn't it pretty....

This shabby chic, heart-shaped, keep safe box is a present i was recently  given...

And finally, my most recent fashion investment.. A sheer cream military style blouse bought from Topshop at £32.

Again, sorry about the poor quality!

Missoni

A Fashion house which prides itself on combining heritage with true unique style, Missoni's take on spring/summer 011 is loud, vibrant, psychedelic and original. Heavily inspired by folk art and pattern, the collection is a fusion of acidic colours and tribal shapes. An array of fabrics and textures, the catwalk was overflowing with Smocks, tunics, Kaftans and Kimonos, which gave the collection a firm Mexican flamboyance and a two-dimensional flatness. The accessories were a credit to the collection, in particular the low-heeled sandals with bright neon block heels and ribbon straps.

Biba

I have to admit, after months of eager anticipation over the relaunch of the iconic 60's fashion brand 'Biba', I cant help but feel a little let down by the averageness of the collection. Fronted by model-of-the-moment Daisy Lowe, i expected the range to capture the essence and ethos of the original Biba but in a fresh and fashion foward way, however i feel the collection definitely lacks the 'wow' factor i was hoping for. On the plus side, the relaunch was marketed well and i do think the brand has huge potential.

Marchesa

An afternoon of catching up on all the latest SS/11 collections showcased by my favourite designers in Fashion Week, has secured me as an avid fan of all things Marchesa. There is only one word to describe
the elegant evening-wear, inspired by vintage and Asian influences, which defines the Marchesa collection....astonishing, well and truly astonishing!  With a breathtaking mixture of delicate embroidery, sculptural drapes and hand painted florals, the collection consists of stunning evening and cocktail wear, which captures a strong 'midnight' feel, complimenting the firm theatrical edge, which each of these dresses exhibit. Organza, silk tulle and heavily bejeweled necklines are some of the ingredients which inject such drama into this beautiful, high rolling collection.
